Frequently Asked Questions
What is NOICE?
NOICE is a photography publication built around a genre called minimal comic-play — work that finds humour, beauty, and quiet strangeness in everyday life. It exists as a living archive of curated photography, a print publication, and a community of photographers who make work that doesn't quite fit anywhere else.
It has been running since 2015. It is independent and has no advertisers.
What is Minimal Comic-Play?
A visual approach that finds meaning through simplicity, subtle humour, and close observation of ordinary moments. Not comedy. Not conceptual photography for its own sake. Something quieter and more honest than either.

Who can submit?
Anyone. There are no requirements around career stage, equipment, location, or style. The only requirement is that the work feels honest and belongs in the archive.
How do submissions work? What are the options?
There are two ways to participate: 1. Standard Submission - $10: Submit up to 20 images for consideration. If selected, your work is featured on the website and shared on social media. Response time is typically 1 week. 2. Portfolio Review - $50: Everything in the standard submission, plus a personal written review of your work - specific feedback, observations on your strongest images, and honest assessment. Your submission goes to the front of the queue. Review slots are limited.
Does it cost me anything to submit my work?
Yes. NOICE is independent - no investors, no advertisers, no external funding. Submission fees are what keep it running and what make honest, uncompromised curation possible.
Is my submission guaranteed to be featured?
No. Every submission is reviewed carefully, but not every submission is selected. If your work is chosen, you will be notified by email. If it is not chosen, you will also be notified. We do not use silence as a response.
How long does it take for you to feature my submission?
Standard submissions: 1-2 weeks depending on volume.
Portfolio Review submissions: faster - these go to the front of the queue.
Do published artists get a free copy of the book?
Yes.
How often do you release a new publication?
It depends. Roughly once every couple of years. Each release is a limited edition. ISSUE N.001 has sold out.
Do you have any books for sale?
Not at the moment. Watch the newsletter and social media for announcements.
