Name
Giulia De Marchi
Title ︎︎︎ Mediterranea
“Ongoing”: continuing to exist or develop. It’s a word that defines something unfinished, in progress.
It’s in this direction that I interpret Mediterranea, the photographic collection regarding a journey to Sicily that left me, once it was over, the desire to go back.
During that week, some summers ago, I explored the western part of the region, from Palermo to Agrigento, trying to seize its flavors and its history.
I discovered some places that I may never be able to set and understand, that are beyond the instant beauty that sometimes seems meaningful and sometimes fierce and unintelligible. What I was left with was a feeling that I’ve never experienced nor acquainted before. A feeling that over time, nevertheless, remained a bit extraneous, distant but still capable of absorbing the memories and vibes of those places.
