I’ve spent the last thirty odd years working as a film and television director and producer, primarily in the arena of scripted dramas. It’s this background which best explains my love of and obsession with visual storytelling broadly, and film noir specifically. It’s this preoccupation with narrative-driven visuals that’s led me toward a decidedly cinematic sensibility in my photography.
I’ve recently completed a black and white personal project, five years in the making, titled UNSEEN. Best described as a portrait of Los Angeles, shot primarily between dusk and dawn, it was inspired by and pays homage to the distinct filmic language of film noir.
